About Us

I’m Dan Sorensen, an engineer by trade and a lifelong hat wearer by habit. I wear a hat almost everywhere. Around the house, working in the yard, cheering on my kids, or heading outdoors to hunt, fish, or explore. Hats are part of who I am. But wearing them that often comes with a problem. They wear out fast, especially when you sweat as much as I do. And finding hats I liked enough to replace them regularly was always harder than it should have been.

Over the years, my wife Katie and I laughed about it. I needed a better solution, and she needed me to stop hanging onto hats that had clearly seen better days. Heads and Toes became that solution. A simple subscription that delivers a fresh, clean, well-styled hat every month without me having to think about it. Hats designed for people who live life outdoors and want to look put together without the effort.

From the beginning, we designed Heads and Toes to stand for more. For every hat we send out, we donate a new pair of warm socks to a local nonprofit serving people experiencing homelessness. Socks provide comfort, warmth, and dignity, and they are always desperately requested and appreciated. We use high-quality OTTO hats for their sweat-wicking performance, partner with independent artists for our patches, and produce small batches that feel intentional and personal. Finally, we love involving our kids in every step of the journey. They help us create, pack, and give back, learning what it means to build something meaningful as a family.
